Our Approach
Health & Safety as part of everyday production
Health & Safety is not treated as a separate paperwork exercise at Print4Printers. It forms part of how our team is trained, how our equipment is operated and how production areas are managed each day.
Before entering the production environment, team members receive Health & Safety training covering the risks they may encounter in their role. This includes manual handling, noise, COSHH, repetitive tasks and the safe use of electrical equipment.
Training is reinforced through practical working procedures, clear responsibilities and regular conversations about potential risks and improvements.
Daily Controls
Checks carried out before production begins
Before machinery is used, its guards and safety features are checked to confirm that they are operating correctly.
These daily checks help us identify concerns early and ensure that equipment is only used when it is safe to do so. Any defects or potential risks are reported and addressed rather than being allowed to become accepted as part of the working environment.
Regular servicing and maintenance also help us keep machinery operating safely, reliably and as intended.

Working Together Safely
Systems shaped by the people doing the work
The people working in each department understand the practical risks associated with their equipment and processes.
We involve operators when reviewing Health & Safety procedures so that our systems reflect the realities of the production environment. This helps us identify hazards that may not be obvious from outside a department and create working practices that are clear, realistic and effective.
Team members are encouraged to raise concerns, suggest improvements and highlight changes that could make a task or process safer.
We treat this involvement positively. Speaking up about a concern is part of maintaining good standards, not an admission that something has gone wrong.

Specialist Equipment
Keeping established machinery safe and up to date
Some of the machinery used for specialist business forms printing and finishing has been built to perform processes that newer general-purpose equipment cannot easily replicate.
Working with established specialist equipment means that guarding, controls and working procedures must be reviewed regularly rather than assumed to remain suitable indefinitely.
Several members of our team have completed IOSH Managing Safely training. This knowledge supports our annual equipment reviews and helps us identify improvements to guarding, protection and operating procedures.
Where improvements are required, they are added to our Health & Safety work-to list and implemented as part of our ongoing programme of maintenance and development.
Established specialist machinery is reviewed regularly to ensure guarding, controls and operating procedures remain appropriate.

External Support
Independent advice and continual improvement
We work closely with the BPIF Health & Safety advisory team and use its annual health-check assessment to help shape our programme of improvements.
This external input gives us an additional perspective on our premises, machinery, procedures and training. Recommendations are reviewed and converted into practical actions that can be prioritised and completed.
The aim is not simply to pass an assessment. It is to maintain a structured process through which our Health & Safety systems continue to develop as equipment, working practices and guidance change.
